Let’s do an experiment. Instead of saying “I don’t have time for health and fitness”, try saying “my health and fitness just isn’t that important”.
That felt terrible didn’t it. Well good! I know it is not that you do not want to get fit and eat healthy, the real reason “you do not have time” is it has fallen down your list of priorities and you cannot figure out how to make your health and fitness “fit your lifestyle”. Once again, I am here to help. Below is a list of ways to overcome the excuse of no time and make time for health and fitness in any type of lifestyle.
1. Meal prep
I cannot stress enough the importance of meal prep. Pick one evening a week that you have free and prepare your proteins, your sides and your veggies for the week. Now all your main meals will be ready for you. You can even put extras in the freezer for later. Each week you can switch up what your main meals will be to keep it interesting.
2. Interval style workouts
I heard people saying they need 2 hours of their time to get to the gym, workout, shower or whatever. I think that is crazy. If you are really strapped for time, try an interval style workout. Pick 3 exercises for 3 different body parts. Perform them back to back to back. Now do this a second time with 3 other exercises. Or, check out this workout by coach Madison. This can be done in 30 minutes or less!
3. Plan a head
Before you go to bed plan your day. Pick the times you are going to eat, workout and do whatever it is you need to reach your goals. For some that means packing your lunch, having your gym bag ready or getting up an hour earlier. Failing to plan is planning to fail, so be prepared and reach your goals.
4. Log your time
Lacking time is actually more of a perception than a reality. Spend a few days logging everything you do in a day and how long each is done for. You will quickly realize how much time is wasted doing things that are not improving your life in any way.
Not having the time to eat properly and workout is the most common excuse in the book. Start making your health a priority today. You only have one body to live in, treat it right and reap the benefits!
